Long summer days...

Long summer days with actual real sunshine in them, meant that plenty of cars appeared out of hiding and headed towards the workshop in order to make the most of it.
PJ's Pearl White 1965 VW Splitscreen Westfalia came by for a full service and a CSP disc brake conversion prior to a trip across Europe to European Bug In 5. PJ decided whilst we were at it, he fancied changing the wheels to chromed and detailed Fuchs replicas. The results were a pretty impressive stance and a much improved drive. He also popped in, in his beautiful Beryl green 1963 Beetle running an Aire Valley beam and air ride system that we fitted earlier this year.
Vic and Jude's Bahama Blue 1965 VW Beetle had been suffering from use as a slammed daily driver on the pothole ridden streets around Brighton and Hove, so in it came for a full running gear service, brake check and a pair of fresh shock absorbers at the rear.
A chance wrong turn earlier in the year led to meeting a friendly bodyshop owner with a couple of cool US import Type 2 VWs. The early bay had a few gear selection issues which were diagnosed and rectified before the camper went off to live with its proud new keepers in Basingstoke.
Being in the car scene for so many years, we have made a lot of good friends and contacts. One of those, Craig owns a very good example of a Razor edge Karmann Ghia that had stalled as a project. With a day spent catching up over spanner swinging, we had it rolling and ready to recover to the workshop with the help of our tame recovery truck drivers.

Something for the weekend?

Apologies for the slow posts at the blog, but the sunshine seems to have brought an influx of cars needing some TLC.
An update will follow soon. Meanwhile, we have added a SALES page, where you can find cars, products and parts for sale by E's Autos friends, customers and clients. We just added a great Airstream caravan, and will be adding a couple of VW Campers very soon.
If you have something for sale, please contact us to advertise it with us.
Enjoy the sunshine.

Week 1

E's Autos' first week flew by in a blur! Along with some tidying, decorating and general diy around the unit, Alex's 1966 VW Beetle came into the workshop for a pre-mot checkout and some slight running issues. This turned out to be a problem with the exhaust valves, so the aircooled engine was pulled out, stripped, repaired and refitted. Sophie also popped in for a pitstop after finding that her VW Buggy's brake lights weren't working. We also managed to rebuild a very worn out pair of stub axles, for an early 60s beetle, complete with dropped spindles, new bushes, kingpins and Linkpins. A good clean up and a squirt of paint should see these ready for service again for many years to come. 45 years of road dirt, grease and grime seems to have attached themselves to Niall's VW Camper spindles that are in for a refurb, but I think time team will have to get involved in these.

The weekend came around quick, and we made the most of the sunshine and took Sophie's beach buggy over to the Just Kampers open day on Saturday, where we caught up with old friends and made some new ones, whilst checking out a lot of cool VW's. And on Sunday we visited Mercedes Benz World for the annual Woking Hospice Classic Car Show, where we checked out some impressive classics from basic Austin Sevens and Morris Minors to big horsepower American Muscle cars and Lola Race cars. A great weekend to end a great first week.

Countdown.....3....

With three days to go, the flyers and business cards have arrived, thanks to my better half and Delicious Industries. I'm really happy with the end result.
There's still a long list of things to sort and jobs to do, and each time we tick one off, we add a couple more to the list.
Hoping to make the trip up to VW Expo at Stonor Park on Sunday to catch up with some good friends and check out the show. Fingers crossed for a sunny day.

Chasing tails

Apologies for the low quality electrical pun!

With a little over a week to go before E's Autos' doors are officially flung open for business, we've been busy organising a new electrical installation (from scratch) after finding that a previous tenant had bypassed the main trip switch, and other horrors.

In between normal work and preparing for the launch on June 3rd, we've been sorting stock, sourcing tools and machinery, dealing with mountains of paperwork and chatting with suppliers and other local businesses. We've even managed to find a few "classic" pieces of furniture and fittings for the workshop too.

We've also been talking with customers about some pretty interesting projects, which I'm sure will appear here on the blog at some point soon.
